RYA Diesel Maintenance - Next Course dates 24th Jan and 28th Jan

This one day course is designed to equip attendees with the ability to diagnose and fix common problems that accur at sea and also to carry out routine maintenance including the fuel sytem, cooling system, oil changes and belt maintenance. At sea, their are two common problems encoutered. The first are failures of the cooling system, often due to the ingress of organic or mineral matter into the salt water side, causing blockage of the water filter and, sometimes, disintegration of the water pump impeller. The second are fuel problems are usually the result of dirty and/or wet fuel blocking the primary and secondary(Fine) fuel filters.

On this course, you will leran how to cope with these problems with practical experience of different engine types and installations. We run this course from our premises within the Rossiters boatyard, giving direct access to mutiple engine types and installations. This gives our students a much more relevant experience than courses limited to a single sample engine in a classroom.

RYA VHF Course - Next courses Sat 25th Feb, Tues 6th March

Modern VHF radio installations now offer much more sophistication than used to be the norm. GMDSS radios allow users to make direct ship to ship calls using individual calling addresses calles MMSI numbers. Emergency calls are now made via the same digital system and backed up by voice calls made over channel 16. A good working knowledge of these systems is an essential safety feature.

We run these course from our own classroom and demonstration facility within Rossiters Quay and use two three different types of radio ( Mobile, small fixed and large fixed installations) to ensure we cover every type of installation our students may encounter.
